A talk on Exam Stress and Preparation


On 10 March 2018, National Service Scheme of Sacred Heart College organized a talk on ‘Exam Stress and preparation for the exams’ to all the NSS volunteers. Mr. Nelson Monis, Lecturer of PG department of Commerce, Sacred Heart College, Madanthyar was the resource Person. He spoke about preparing for the examination, managing the exam stress and need for happiness. Prof. Alex Ivan Sequeira Principal of the college, Programme officers of NSS Units  were presided over the function.

Importants and benefits’ of the movement

The Rovers and rangers unit of Sacred Heart College had organized a guest lecture programme on  10th March 2018. Scout Master Mr. Shanthram Prabhu, the Secretary of Local Unit of Scout and guides, Belthangady were the resource person. A special talk on ‘importants  and benefits’ of Rovering and Rangering was delivered by him and he stressed the duty and discipline among the members and the services rendered to the society by the scout and guides movement. He advised the students to participate regularly in the Rovers- rangers activities and encouraged the students to write ‘NIPUN’ exam in this academic year. It was an opportunity for the students to have an insight into the benefits of joining the unit.

The principal Prof. Alex Ivan Sequiera presided over the function. The director of rovers Mr. Shrinath B.S welcomed the gathering and ranger director Ms. Preethi D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks.

International Women’s Day- a Guest Talk


The Women Cell in coordination with National Service Scheme on the occasion of International women’s Day-2018 organized a guest lecture programme for the girl students on the topic ‘Menstrual Cycle- Healthy Practices and Menstrual Waste Management’ on 8th March 2018. The principal of the college Prof. Alex Ivan Sequeira presided over the function. Dr. Vandana Jain, Assistant Professor, Dept of Post Graduation Studies and Research in Psychology SDM College, Ujire was the resource person. Director of the Women Cell Prof. Agnes Rodrigues and student representatives of Women Cell and NSS were present. The Welcome Address was given by Ms. Jovita Gonsalves, Programme officer of NSS and vote of thanks was rendered by Suhana Taj of I B.com.the programme was compered by UmaMaheshwari of I B.com (A).

Workshop on legislative process in India


A workshop on legislative process in India was held in the college on 6th  March 2018. Prof Thomas G M, in his address , as a resource person  explained in detail the legislative  process in India and at  the end clarified the doubts raised by the students.


            The principal of the college  Prof.  Alex Ivan Sequiera in his presidential address gave a call to the students to make use of the programme and said  voting is  both a right and duty of every citizen. All the students of BA stream were the target group. The programme was held under the auspices of Electoral literacy club of the college and its convener  Prof janardhanan P  Welcomed the chief guest and the gathering .



As a part of academics, we the folks of Sacred Heart PG Studies planned to organise ANOHEP 2018 A University Level Under Graduate Commerce Fest, under the theme of ICEPERIA. The Tagline was Invent Yourself. History is the fiction we invent to persuade ourselves that events are knowable and that life has order and direction. Invention is done with plan and hard work, there are endless famous inventions worthy of curiosity and wonder. ICEPERIA provides platform for the students to invent, innovate, inspire, and involve their hidden management skills and to develop their overall personality and preparation them for globalised world. The objective of the commerce fest is to provide an opportunity for the UG students to develop themselves with management and organising skills which helps them to stand in front like a person who does anything for the first time. Respire to inspire before you aspire is the catch line which states the depth of living gently like ANOHEP 2018which means pioneer in Russian language, it is also for the best minds to showcase their talents and ability which triggers the best aim to come together by exploring with mutual enthusiasm. The participants are free to select any event under the ICEPERIA 2018.As per the rules of ICEPERIA 2018, the participants had to the confirm their participation on or before 28th February 2018.We have succeeded in receiving 14 colleges and given them clear information about all the events of ICEPERIA 2018.

The inaugurator of ICEPERIA 2018 was Rev. Fr. Alwyn D’Souza, Asst. Parish Priest Sacred Heart Church Madanthyar, who inaugurated the event and delivered presidential remarks and wished all success for the event.


The chief guest for the event Mr. Rudolph M. C. Rodrigues, Charted Accountant and Partner M/S Rodrigues & D’Souza firm Mangalore, who highlighted the values in education and skills we have to develop to meet the competitive world.

The guest of honour Pruthvi V. Ambar costal wood star, who delivered motivational speech and wished all success for the event.

Mrs. Pavana Rai, HOD of PG studies in commerce welcomed the gathering and LovitVivan D’Souza the student co-ordinator proposed vote of thanks.

Five events sessions were conducted simultaneously, Management Games in Auditorium (Pabbas), Marketing in Room No:111(Amul), Best Manager in Room No:112(Ideal parlour), Public Relation Room No:113(Hangyo), Quiz in Indoor stadium.

The Judges for the events were Ms. Raksha, Mr. Nelson fernandes, Mr.samjoel, Mr. PrashanthN.shetty, Mr. Riyaz, Mr. Raghavendra, Mr. MahmmadThouseef, Renishaveigus, Mr. Vincent, Ms. Ullekha.

Theoverall championship of ICEPERIA 2018 was backed by Milagres College, Mangalore and Runner-up of ICEPERIA 2018 was St. Philomena College, Putturu.

 We are heartilygrateful to each and every person who has directly and indirectly for the success of ICEPERIA 2018.


Annual Day -2017-18


College day celebrations were held on the 28th of February 2018 in the college indoor stadium. Mr Padmarj. R .Alumni of the college, presently an advocate and notary public was the chief guest. The programme was presided by the Correspondent of the Sacred Heart Institutions Rev. Fr. Basil Vas. Dr. Sham Bhat, co-ordinator of  IQAC welcomed the guest and invitees . Principal Prof. Alex Ivan Sequeira, presented the annual report of the college .Dr. Joseph N M was felicitated for awarding Ph.D. by the University of Mysore . All the outstanding achievers in academic, cultural, and sport were honored by the chief guest. All the top scorers in academics were awarded the endowment prizes. Winners in the cultural competitions conducted by the college were honored by the President of Alumni association Mr Rajshekar Shetty. Winners in sports events were honored by vice President of Parish Council Mr. Ronald Sequeira. Mr Madhava Gowda President of PTA honored the achievers of PG studies in various events. President of the function Rev. Fr. Basil Vas honored chief guest Mr Padmaraj. R.  Ms. Sharal Sequeira of final B Com proposed vote of thanks .The programme was compered by Mrs. Beby HOD of Kannada and  Mr. Susheel Tom Jose , faculty of  the Dept. of  English.IMG_6623

Seminar on Goods and Service Tax


The department of kannada had conducted a seminar on “Goods and Service Tax” on 12.02.2018 in the college. Principal  Prof Alex Ivan Sequeira presided over the function  and Prof Venkatesh Nayak gave an elaborate  outlook on the concept of GST in India . Mangalore University had recently included a topic on GST for the first year students in its Kannada language textbook. As a part of curriculum this programme was conducted by the department of kannada.

Electoral awareness

IMG_5868An Electoral awareness  programme was arranged in the  college on 10th February afternoon for the member of the electoral literacy club under the auspices of students welfare council  students. Council Director Prof Vincent D’Souza spoke on the occasion and Prof Janardhana N campus ambassador explained the participation of youth in the election and distributed a format which could be used to collect the primary information from the village house holds.

On the same day another  meeting of the  NSS volunteers  was held and students were grouped in to batches  and the formats were distrusted  to collect the information from the households.

Electoral Awareness Programme


An Electoral Awareness Programme was organized in the college on 10th Feb 2018 under the auspices of electoral literacy club. Mr.Nagesh, the PDO of Madanthyar Grama Panchyath enlightened the students about the importance of voting and youth participation in governance. The Principal, Prof Alex Ivan Sequeira presided over the function and Prof Janardhana N, campus ambassador gave the introductory remark and compeered the programme.
