Inauguration of IT Form

The IT Forum was inaugurated on 19th August, 2017 under the department of Computer Applications. Mr. Royal Praveen D’Souza, Lecturer, St. Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru was the Chief Guest. He delivered talk on “Career Guidance and Project Guidance”.
The Principal Prof. Alex Ivan Sequiera conveyed his message. Ms. Ramya of III BCA, the President of IT Forum welcomed the gathering and introduced the guest. Mr. Janardhan D. Rao, the HOD of Computer Applications department, Ms. Jecintha D’Souza, the Coordinator of IT Forum were present. More than 90 students got the benefit. The Secretary of IT Forum, Mr. Abhinav Gowda of II BCA proposed vote of thanks. Ms. Arpitha and Ms. Poorva of III BCA compeered the programme.

Drug Addiction Awareness Programme

Student’s welfare council in association with ‘Jana Jagrathi Vedike’ Belthangady zone organized a drug addiction awareness programme to the benefit of first year degree students on September 6th 2017. Principal Prof Alex Ivan Sequeira presided the function .Resource person Mr. Thimmayya Nayak programme co-ordinator and resource person, Mr. Sachin supervisor ,Mr Abdul Rehman Padpu and student welfare council director Prof. Vincent D Souza were present on the dais.
The resource person gave a detailed information about the dangers of drug addiction and how the students can safeguard themselves from such menace. Mr Abdul Rehaman Padpu informed about drug abuse and its health hazards. Principal gave his presidential remarks.
Prof Vincent D Souza welcomed the guests and gathering ,Ms Kavana of third B com compeered the programme Ms Roopashree Shetty of First B com proposed vote of thanks

Fresher’s Day

The second year students’ of PG Department of commerce organized a fresher’s day programme to their juniors. The Principal Prof. Alex Ivan Sequeira has presided over the function. In his presidential remarks he has insisted the students to make use of all the facilities provided by the college. Mrs Sushma.K lecturer of M.Com welcomed the gathering. Annual General Body Meeting 2017-18

On 13-08-2017, the college hosted annual general meeting of alumni association in the college auditorium. The principal of the college had brief out the college activities that are held in the academic year 2016-17 and thanked everyone for their support towards the college activities. The coordinator Prof. Paul Menezes conducted the election for the new office bearers for the academic year 2017-18. Mr. Rajshekar shetty and Ms. Preethi D’Souza were selected as the president and secretary. Mr. Francis V.V and Mr. Rajesh Krishnappa as the vice president, Ms. Rozita Sera as the joint secretary and Mr. Avin Akash Franko selected as a treasurer.
The Ex-President Mr. Maxim Albuquerque was felicitated for his dedicated service during his tenure. Mr. Maxim Albuquerque welcomed the gathering , Secretary Ms. Jovita Priya Gonsalves presented the annual report of the academic year 2015-17, Mr. Vijith pinto presented the Income and Expenditure Statement, Ms. Preethi D’Souza proposed a vote of thanks, Mr Avin Akash Franko compeered the programme.

Career Guidance Programme

On 11.08.2017 Career Guidance cell held career guidance programme for the final year students of the college .There were more than 200 students’ present . The resource person of the programme was Mr. Ashith Poojari who is a manager of prestigious coaching center TIMES mangalore.
The co-ordinator of the cell Prof Ishwar Gowda welcomed the Gathering .The resource person made the presentation and gave many suggestions about the opportunities available after graduation .He also said about the competitive exams. After the interaction he took feedback from the students. At the end of the programme Suprabha Gave vote of Thanks.

Inauguration of Student Welfare Council Activities for the academic year 2017-18 were held on the 9th august 2017 in the college auditorium. Dr. Ivan D’Souza MLC and chief Whip Govt. of Karnataka was the inaugurator and chief guest. Rev. Fr. Basil Vas, correspondent of the college presided over the function.Mr Alex Ivan Sequeira,Principal, Mr. Ronald Sequeira Vice president of Parish Council,Mr Madhava Gowda PTA President Mr. Maxim Albuquerque President of Alumni Association and Students Welfare Council director Mr. Vincent D’Souza were present on the dais.Mr. Vincent D’Souza welcomed the guests and gathering. Ms Akshtha proposed vote of thanks.The programme was compered by Ms Stephy Alice Anradhe.

Guest Lecture on “HOW TO STUDY ENGLISH LANGUAGE”

The Department of English, our college organized a guest lecture on “HOW TO STUDY ENGLISH LANGUAGE” on 8th August 2017. Prof Balakrishna H.O.D of English of Vivekananda College Puttur was the resource person and he mainly spoke on four different aspects such as listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in improving English. In his lecture he also discussed regarding the proper use of intonation and grammar in order to enhance the language proficiency of a second language learner.
Prof. Alex Ivan Sequeira, Principal of the college conveyed his message to the students. Mr. Susheel Tom Jose introduced the guest to the gathering and Mrs. Reskha was present over the programme. More than two hundred students from 1St year degree attended the lecture. Divya from Ist B.Com was the MC, Siri from Ist B.Com delivered the welcome speech and Shyma from 1st BA proposed the vote of thanks.

Vanamahotsava

Alumni Association of our college in association with National Service Scheme and National Cadet Corps of the college organized a programme on Vanamahotsava on 5th August 2017 at the college campus. Rev. Fr. Bazil Vas the correspondent of Scared Heart Educational institutions inspired the students to plant the saplings of different species within the campus in large number to visualize the great dream of green campus. He also encouraged them to protect it to get better environment such as pure air, rains in time and to increase the water level. He motivated everyone by distributing the sapling and making them to plant it within the campus.
The principal of the college Prof. Alex Ivan Sequiera Alumni Association coordinator Prof. Paul Menezes ,President Mr. Maxim Albuquerque, NSS programme officers Mr.Sam Joel Dais, Ms. Jovita Gonsalves, Mr.Rajesh Shetty, NCC coordinator, Mr.Elias Pinto, and all its members were present for the programme.

Guest Lecture on Health and Hygiene by Womens Cell

Women’s Cell of Sacred Heart College Madanthyar organized a Programme on “ HEALTH AND HYGIENE” for all first year girls students on 04-08-2017 at 2.00 pm in college auditorium. Dr. Suma Rani Pandey, MD was the resource person. She, in her guest lecture narrated the students on the healthy food habits and its contribution in maintaining good health. She also explained the causes of adolescence problems and gave the suggestions for the same. Prof Alex Ivan Sequiera, principal of our college advised the girls to take the benefits of the programme. Mrs Agnes Rodrigues, director of Womens Cell welcomed the gathering. Ms Uma Maheshwari rendered vote of thanks and Ms. Roopashree Shetty compered the programme.

P.T.A. Annual General body meeting

Parent –Teacher Association Annual General body meeting was held on 22 July 2017 10.00 a.m. in the college Auditorium .
Correspondent of the college Rev. Fr. Basil Vas was presided over the function. He Felicitated Sri S.R Nayak the outgoing president for his selfless service in the past two years. He also felicitated the newly elected president Sri. Madhava Gowda Vice-President Smt. Jacintha Monis and all the executive committee members and requested the whole hearted co-operation.
Principal Prof. Alex Ivan Sequeira briefed college activities, semester result implementation of uniform in all the college working days and forming students welfare council by conducting election only to class representative. He also appealed the house for the voluntary contribution towards on going Indoor stadium project.
