The Department of English, our college organized a guest lecture on “HOW TO STUDY ENGLISH LANGUAGE” on 8th August 2017. Prof Balakrishna H.O.D of English of Vivekananda College Puttur was the resource person and he mainly spoke on four different aspects such as listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in improving English. In his lecture he also discussed regarding the proper use of intonation and grammar in order to enhance the language proficiency of a second language learner.
Prof. Alex Ivan Sequeira, Principal of the college conveyed his message to the students. Mr. Susheel Tom Jose introduced the guest to the gathering and Mrs. Reskha was present over the programme. More than two hundred students from 1St year degree attended the lecture. Divya from Ist B.Com was the MC, Siri from Ist B.Com delivered the welcome speech and Shyma from 1st BA proposed the vote of thanks.


Alumni Association of our college in association with National Service Scheme and National Cadet Corps of the college organized a programme on Vanamahotsava on 5th August 2017 at the college campus. Rev. Fr. Bazil Vas the correspondent of Scared Heart Educational institutions inspired the students to plant the saplings of different species within the campus in large number to visualize the great dream of green campus. He also encouraged them to protect it to get better environment such as pure air, rains in time and to increase the water level. He motivated everyone by distributing the sapling and making them to plant it within the campus.
The principal of the college Prof. Alex Ivan Sequiera Alumni Association coordinator Prof. Paul Menezes ,President Mr. Maxim Albuquerque, NSS programme officers Mr.Sam Joel Dais, Ms. Jovita Gonsalves, Mr.Rajesh Shetty, NCC coordinator, Mr.Elias Pinto, and all its members were present for the programme.

Guest Lecture on Health and Hygiene by Womens Cell

Women’s Cell of Sacred Heart College Madanthyar organized a Programme on “ HEALTH AND HYGIENE” for all first year girls students on 04-08-2017 at 2.00 pm in college auditorium. Dr. Suma Rani Pandey, MD was the resource person. She, in her guest lecture narrated the students on the healthy food habits and its contribution in maintaining good health. She also explained the causes of adolescence problems and gave the suggestions for the same. Prof Alex Ivan Sequiera, principal of our college advised the girls to take the benefits of the programme. Mrs Agnes Rodrigues, director of Womens Cell welcomed the gathering. Ms Uma Maheshwari rendered vote of thanks and Ms. Roopashree Shetty compered the programme.

P.T.A. Annual General body meeting

Parent –Teacher Association Annual General body meeting was held on 22 July 2017 10.00 a.m. in the college Auditorium .
Correspondent of the college Rev. Fr. Basil Vas was presided over the function. He Felicitated Sri S.R Nayak the outgoing president for his selfless service in the past two years. He also felicitated the newly elected president Sri. Madhava Gowda Vice-President Smt. Jacintha Monis and all the executive committee members and requested the whole hearted co-operation.
Principal Prof. Alex Ivan Sequeira briefed college activities, semester result implementation of uniform in all the college working days and forming students welfare council by conducting election only to class representative. He also appealed the house for the voluntary contribution towards on going Indoor stadium project.

Inauguration of Fine Arts Club Annual Activities.

On July 15,2017 the fine arts club of the college was inaugurated by Sir Rama P Saliyan The Cadre Headmaster , Model School Uli, Bantwala taluk. He was the master in Dance , Music and mimicry and reservoir of 14 state/ District /Taluk level awards in different capacities .He highlighted the significance of skill and talents in the growth and development of human resource. He also entertained the members of the club through music and mimicry.

Inauguration of N.S.S. Annual Activities.

The inauguration of the NSS activities was held on 15/07/2017. Correspondent of Sacred Heart Institutions Rev.Fr.Basil Vas was the guest and inaugurator spoke on Humanity and Discipline and impact on society. Prof.Alex Ivan Sequeira, Principal of the college presided over the programme and asked the students to show whole hearted involvement in NSS to get favorable results. Prof Joseph N. M. was chief guest and asked students to internalize values of NSS in their life.
Tejas, Sagar, Savitha and Venktesh are the senior volunteers who share their experience. All the unit leaders were present in the programme. Programme officer Mr. Sam Joel Dias welcomed the gathering and programme officer Kumari. Jovita Gonsalves proposed vote of thanks. Compeering was done by the senior volunteer Anisha and Sagar.

P.T.A. Executive Committee Meeting

The First Executive committee meeting for the academic year 2017-18 was held on Thursday the 6th July 2017 at 3.00pm in the conference hall.
The meeting began with a silent prayer. The secretary of the association Mr.John B D’Souza welcomed the house and read the minutes of the last meeting.
Principal Prof. Alex Ivan Sequeira narrated the activities conducted after NAAC visit to the college. He thanked the president and members for their co-operation and support during the NAAC visit. He presented before the house the result of II, IV and VI semesters and admissions to bachelor degree programmes.
The following resolutions were unanimously approved by the house, presented by the principal.
1)Elections to students welfare council was restricted to class wise leaders from both girls and boys and they themselves are the conveners for various programmers (No election to the president and secretary ).
2)College uniform for all 6 days of working hours.
The president of the association Sri. S.R Nayak assured the whole-hearted co-operation for the development and progress of the college.
The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by Prof Agnes Rodrigues.

Annual Day 2016-17

Sacred Heart College, celebrated its Annual Day on 23-03-2017. Rev.Fr.Dr.Antony Prakash Monteiro, campus director of St.Philomena College, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. The Correspondent of Sacred Heart Institutions Rev. Fr. Lawrence Mascarenhas presided over the function. Mr Maxim Albuquerque, the president of Alumni Association, Mr.S.R. Nayak, the president of Parent –Teacher Association and the Vice president of Sacred Heart Church Parish Council Mr.Ronald Sequiera were the Guest of Honour.
The Chief Guest Rev.Fr.Dr.Antony Prakash Monteiro, delivered a message to become good human beings and responsible citizens of the society. The president of the programme Rev. Fr. Lawrence Mascarenhas advised the students to grab the opportunities and succeed in life.
The annual report of Sacred Heart College, showcasing the activities of the Institution over the last one year, was presented by the Principal –Prof.Alex Ivan Sequiera. Students who have achieved excellence in academics as well as co-curricular and sporting activities were awarded on this occasion. The IQAC coordinator Dr.Sham Bhat, welcomed the gathering and also introduced the Chief Guest. The Student council President Mr.Rakshith proposed a vote of thanks. Prof. Joseph N.M and Ms.Shubha Gowri compeered the programme.
Varieties of Cultural Porgrammes were performed by the students. It is hosted by Mr. Robin Sera and Ms. Vikitha Crasta , of III

NAAC Visit to Sacred Heart College


The Sacred Heart College Madanthyar recently had a visit of the NAAC Peer Team and appreciated much for its infrastructural facilities, academic and other programs- activities, introduced in the college. The team of trio included of Prof.Indra Vardhan Trivedi the former vice chancellor Mohanlal Sukhadiya university, Rajasthan, Dr. Vasanth Jugle from the Shivaji University Kollapura, Prof.Bipin Mehta the director of A.E.S institute of Computer studies.

Rovers and Rangers Unit


Bharath Scout and Guides Local Association Madanthyar organized Rovers-Rangers Samagama, Scout-Guide Rally 2016-17 at morarji Desai Residential school, Macchina from 13th to 15th January 2017. Rangers 19 and 5 Rovers of our College unit attended and gained the benefit of this camp.
